Alice in Chains are preparing to record a brand new album this year. This will be the first album that they have recorded in 13 years and will also be the band’s first since Layne Staley – the frontman for the band – died from a drug overdose in 2002.

The band is now joined by their new singer William DeVall and will begin recording in the studio this fall. Writing on the band’s website, band associate Baldy said: “October will arrive and Alice In Chains will reconvene to record the new album.

“So, as 2008, winds down, band activity will be gearing up, and at some point in 2009 you’ll finally hear what I’ve been raving about for the last several months.” The band’s previous, self-titled, album was released in 1995.
