“Gossip Girl’s” Leighton Meester To Create Her First Album
It seems that the role of actor and singer go hand in hand. Many are required to do both for certain movies (Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor are a good example) and some just decide later in life to take on both careers at one time. The same works for singers who decide to push their luck and take on acting. Some have been successful at this (Miley Cyrus) and others are not able to make their mark as well as they had hoped (Scarlett Johansson).
The next actress to try her hand in joining the music career is Leighton Meester. We all know Leighton as the social queen and backstabber - Blaire Waldorf - from the CW’s “Gossip Girl”. She announced during the New York Fashion Week that she is recording her first album and will be releasing it soon.
Meester has always enjoyed making music, but this time around, she wants the public to hear her work as well. The budding fashionista told Access, “It’s so cool because it’s a completely different creative process,” than television. Meester enthused, “From beginning to end it’s yours and you make it… You can see the finished product.”
Perhaps her role as teen pop star Justine Chapman on Entourage inspired her to bust out her first album. We can’t wait to see the reviews on the CD - which will either make or break her.
