Jessica Simpson Goes Country
Jessica Simpson hosted her first country concert and many fans did not know how to take to it. Half of the fans were asking why she switched genres when she was so good at playing the pop star and the other half welcomed the change.
After her performance the audience both applauded and booed at the singer. “I don’t know what your perception is of Jessica Simpson or what tabloid you buy, but I just want you to know that I’m just a girl from Texas,” Simpson told the crowd. “I’m just like you. I’m doing what I love and dating a boy.”
Her ‘boy’ - Tony Romo - was in the crowd that night and she happily dedicated her song “You’re My Sunday” to him. She also performed her new single “Come On Over”.
One concertgoer told the local paper: “I’ll have to drink a lot of beer to sit through her concert.” Another one added, “She’s an embarrassment to country music.”
Yet, not everyone felt this way. One fan told the paper, “I actually like her country songs better. She has a great voice, plus, she’s adorable.”
